Old stuff: User talk:Asamboi/Archive
Archives
[edit]Hi, User:Asamboi (it will take me a while to get used to the new username). Are you sure it's OK not to have a link to any archive of previous talk page discussion? I don't categorize it by year or anything and just dump it all on one page, but it's usual to keep the records somewhere on the unusual off chance someone might want to see them. - Not to be an ass about it (especially if you're trying to have a clean start on enwiki), but it is required as per Wikivoyage:Using talk pages#User talk pages stating that all discussions must be found somewhere. //shb (t | c | m) 23:53, 22 June 2025 (UTC)
- Fair enough, I've created an archive page. Asamboi (talk) 01:40, 23 June 2025 (UTC)
- Thanks; much appreciated! //shb (t | c | m) 09:22, 23 June 2025 (UTC)

Topic Talk:Travel as a vegetarian#"In most of Southeast Asia, it can be challenging to find completely vegetarian food."
[edit]I have started a new thread about making a change to a paragraph:
- In most of Southeast Asia, it can be challenging to find completely vegetarian food. Thin fish sauce is often used instead of or in addition to soy sauce, especially in the Philippines (patis), Thailand (nam pla), and Vietnam (nuoc mam). In Malaysia and Indonesia, shrimp paste known as belacan or terasi is often used in the rempah (spice mix) used to flavor many dishes, while the Philippines, Laos, and Cambodia make heavy use of fermented fish pastes like bagoong. Tiny dried prawns and salted fish are also commonly used for flavor. Your best bet is to look for South Indian vegetarian or Chinese Mahayana Buddhist vegetarian food, and to be very clear about your requirements in traditional restaurants, especially in the Philippines.
This sorts country lists by decreasing extensive use of the condiment and also highlights to be especially careful in the Philippines since they make use of multiple problem condiments. You are invited to voice your opinion. Faster than Thunder (talk) 15:02, 18 July 2025 (UTC)
