Shubenacadie is a small community in Hants County, Nova Scotia, with a population of about 400 in 2021.

[edit]The name from which "Shubenacadie" derives is the Mi'kmaq name for the area, "Sipekne'katik", meaning "place abounding in groundnuts", or "place where the wapato grows."

[edit]Shubenacadie is situated along Highway 2, a few kilometres north of Milford. Highway 224 also exits into Shubenacadie.

[edit]- 1 Tinsmith Museum, 2854 Highway 2. Open seasonally in the summer. The former home of Watson Smith & Sons Tinsmith Shop and Hardware Store, established c. 1895.
- 2 Shubenacadie War Memorial, 2836 Highway 2. The Shubenacadie Cenotaph was unveiled in 1921 and lists the names of the brave men of Shubenacadie who never returned home from World War I.
- 3 Wildlife Park. near Shubenacadie is a 40-hectare park with animals, an interpretive centre, hiking trails, a picnic area and large playground.
- 4 Former Shubenacadie Indian Residential School. The former site of the Shubenacadie Indian Residential School features a small memorial with three plaques.
- 5 St James Anglican Church Hall, 2856 Highway 2. Historic church in the heart of Shubenacadie, right next to the Tinsmith Museum.
