Naic is a town in Cavite. A coastal settlement along the shores of Manila Bay, it contains some beaches and sights of historic importance despite gradual urbanization.
Understand
[edit]Naic was originally part of Maragondon and was established in the 18th century. The area saw some of the major battles of the Philippine Revolution against Spain from 1896 to 1897 and briefly hosted the revolutionary government of Andres Bonifacio during his brief civil war with Emilio Aguinaldo that culminated in the former's execution
Naic is undergoing urbanization since the 2000s, with the eastern part of town being converted into industrial estates and middle-class gated subdivisions. Despite this, Naic retains a sizeable small-scale fishing fleet and beach resorts along Manila Bay.
Get in
[edit]Naic is at the junction of two major thoroughfares of Cavite. Antero Soriano Highway terminates at the town from Kawit and joins with Governor's Drive from Carmona on its way west to Ternate. A secondary road also links the town with Indang.
Buses bound for Ternate from Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange (PITX) and Lawton in Metro Manila ply Antero Soriano Highway, from where transfers to Naic proper via tricycles can be made, usually at the junction next to Petron Gas Station or at the junction with Governor's Drive. Naic is also the western terminus for the baby buses, minibuses and jeepneys that ply the Antero Soriano Highway from Bacoor and the jeepneys coming from Indang and Trece Martires via Naic-Indang Road and Governor's Drive respectively.
The main transport terminal is inside Naic Public Market.
Get around
[edit]Tricycles are the most convenient form of public transportation within downtown Naic and if heading to the coast, while jeepneys connect downtown Naic with outlying barangays.
