Mauban is a town along the Pacific coast of Quezon province, Philippines. Long isolated from the rest of the province, it has an extensive territory containing less-visited forests, waterfalls, islands, beaches and even heritage structures.
Understand
[edit]Mauban was established by the Spanish in 1583 and was named after a tribal chieftain with white hair (uban). Given the town's location along Lamon Bay, an extension of the Pacific Ocean, Mauban was at the periphery of Spanish settlement in the province and was largely isolated, with only one road connecting it with Lucban. Most visitors come to Mauban to enjoy the beaches and resorts of Cagbalete Island, northeast of downtown Mauban.
Get in
[edit]Mauban is connected to the rest of Quezon by roads leading separately to Lucban via Sampaloc and Tayabas. From Cubao and Buendia in Metro Manila, JAC Liner runs infrequent buses to Mauban. Passenger vans also link Mauban with the provincial capital, Lucena.
A road is being built northwards along the Pacific coast to connect Mauban with Infanta and the Marilaque Road leading to Antipolo in Rizal province.
Tourists are required to register at the municipal tourism office in Mauban Port.
