Jalajala, sometimes spelled as Jala-Jala, is a town in southeastern Rizal, Philippines. Situated at the tip of its eponymous peninsula, it is one of the last remaining bastions of rural life in the province.
Understand
[edit]The town's name is said to have been derived from a corruption of the halaan, a species of shellfish. It passed back and forth between Pila, across Laguna de Bay in Laguna province, and Pililla before finally becoming a separate town in 1907.
Jalajala is the farthest most town in Rizal from Metro Manila. Its distance has protected it from the rapid urbanization and commercial chains that permeate the rest of the province.
Get in
[edit]From Manila East Road, go straight at the junction at Barangay Halayhayin in Pililla.
Jalajala is accessible by jeepneys from Tanay and Pililla. From Siniloan in Laguna, SINCRODA operates infrequent jeepneys to Jalajala.
