Candelaria is a town in western Quezon. Located at the foot of Mount Banahaw, it is a growing commercial agricultural town with a few natural and man-made attractions in between.
Understand
[edit]Candelaria was founded in 1879. Its fertile location at the foot of Mount Banahaw made it an ideal location for coconut plantations and refineries for coconut oil. The town is the third most populated in Quezon after Lucena and Sariaya.
Get in
[edit]Candelaria is along the Maharlika Highway (Manila South Road, numbered Route 1/AH26) which also serves as the town's main street and a major bus route. The highway is a major bottleneck on the route in Quezon, necessitating the construction of a bypass road south of the downtown. It is also the terminus of the Rosario-San Juan-Candelaria Road from Batangas, which joins Maharlika Highway at the WalterMart.
Candelaria will be served by one exit on the South Luzon Expressway extension to Lucena.
Candelaria is also along the Philippine National Railways line running between San Pablo in Laguna and Lucena, the capital of Quezon.
