Bheemunipatnam, or Bheemili for short, is a suburb 25 km (16 mi) east of Visakhapatnam in northern Andhra Pradesh. Apart from the famous beach, the town has the remains of a Portuguese church, a Dutch cemetery and two Buddhist sites.

[edit]- 1 Andhra Baptist Church. A heritage church established in 1873.
- 2 Dutch Cemetery. One of the few remnants of the Dutch rule in India, the cemetery was also used for British officials.
- 3 Erra Matti Dibbalu (Red Sand Hills). As the name suggests, it's a group of hillocks made of red sand.
- 4 Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Temple. A Hindu temple at the foothills of Pavurallakonda.
Buddhist sites
[edit]- 5 Pavurallakonda (Narasimhaswamy Konda). A hill with the ruins of a Buddhist monastery at the top.
- 6 Gudiwada Dibba. A small hillock nearby with another Buddhist site, possibly of the 2nd century BCE.
