Asaka (朝霞市 Asaka Shi) is a small city in Saitama, right across the river from Saitama City. Asaka is primarily a bedroom community with over 37% of its population commuting to the Tokyo metropolis for work.

  • Former Takahashi Family Residence is a wooden, single-story farmhouse with a thatched roof, estimated to have been built in first half of the 18th century. It is designated a National Important Cultural Property because the building and thatched roof are well preserved, and the topography has been well preserved.
  • The Kurome River is a famous cherry blossom spot, and the Kurome River Flower Festival is held there every year in late March.
  • Hiiragizuka Tomb Historical Square: this ancient tomb is part of the Miyadai ruins on the edge of a plateau overlooking the Shingashi River. It is the only keyhole-shaped tomb in the southern part of the prefecture whose burial mound still remains. It is designated as a Saitama Prefecture Historic Site.
