Apt is a commune in the Vaucluse department of France.

Understand

[edit]
Chapelle Saint-Michel

Apt's old town area is on the south side of the Calavon River between several ranges of hills. There are many hotels and restaurants here, in addition to some historical sites such as the Apt Museum and the Cathedral of Saint-Anne. Futher hotels lie in the rolling hills on the northern side of the river and to the south of the town.

Get in

[edit]

The main road is the D900 from west to east. To the west it passes rural areas on its way toward Avignon, while to the east it reaches the department of Alpes-de-Haute-Provence.

There are bus lines to Apt, but no train service. The rail line runs to Cavaillon and then south toward Sénas. You can catch a bus from Avignon to Apt.

Get around

[edit]

The old town center is walkable, being about 500 m (1,600 ft) from one end to the other. Many of Apt's hotels are in the countryside and hills farther from the own center.
